KHPT facilitated a satellite training broadcast to 14 districts in Karnataka on November 10, with resource persons from the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) and public health experts from KHPT to orient the Gram Panchayat members on the Graama Panchayath Arogya Amrutha Abhiyaana (GPAAA) , the basics of TB and COVID, the use of the health management and COVID Care kits and most importantly, their role in ensuring that healthcare services reach the most vulnerable in the communities. The training was broadcast with the support of Abdul Nazeer Sab State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (ANSSIRD & PR), Mysuru, and the broadcast station at the Panchayat Commissionerate, Bengaluru.
Resource persons for the three-hour satellite session included Ms. Uma Mahadevan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj; Dr Anil S, Deputy Director, State TB Office; Mr. Yalakki Gowda, Director (Development), RDPR ; Mr. H S Ashokanand, IAS, (Retd) and Advisor, KHPT; Mr. Mohan HL, CEO, KHPT; Ms. H Vasundara Devi Consultant, Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, RDPR, Bengaluru; and Mr. B Peer Mohammad, DRR Consultant, Karnataka Panchayath Raj Commissionerate, Bengaluru. Dr. Swaroop N, Thematic Lead, MNCH and CPHC, KHPT, and Mr. Bisujaksha V S, Digital Transformation Lead, KHPT, conducted sessions on the use of the devices in the kit and monitoring and recording screening activities, respectively. Mr. Shashi Katteri, State-Lead, PRI, Interventions, KHPT facilitated the session.
The training will be followed up with handholding support from KHPT’s District Leads and Taluka Coordinators in the 14 states. The teams will assess the Gram Panchayats’ understand and support them with a second round of training, if necessary.
