A colloquium was held on 19th December, 2024 on the topic “Understanding Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for Public Health” that was facilitated by Dr. S. Varadharajan, the Coordinator of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO) at the Directorate of Research, Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

Dr. Vardharajan’s presentation and talk explained the importance of various intellectual property rights and highlighted the processes of how to register for a patent and copyright in India. The presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session that discussed the following takeaways:

– What are the different kinds of intellectual property that we (KHPT) have created in the past, and how do we safeguard it in the future

– Understanding the key difference between various copyrights and why we should explore these concepts better.
