Shri. B. Vinod Kumar Garu, Vice Chairperson, Telangana State Planning Board (TSPB) presided over a Food Fortification Conclave in Telangana, at The Golkonda Hotel. The program was jointly organized by the Office of Commissioner, Food Safety, Telangana; KHPT and GAIN, to take forward the food fortification strategy to address the prevalent micronutrient deficiencies in Telangana.
The chief guest inaugurated the conclave by lighting the lamp accompanied by Dr. K. Shankar, Director, Food Safety, Mr. T. Vijaya Kumar, Deputy Food Controller, Food Safety, Mr. H L Mohan, Managing Trustee, KHPT and Ms. Usha Rani, Director, JSS. More than a 100 participants attended including Food Safety, KHPT and GAIN officials, along with edible oil, milk and wheat flour industries.
Shri Kumar Garu stated during the inauguration that the Telangana state is strongly committed to improve the health of its people. Therefore, since last 1 year, Commissioner, Food Safety, has initiated the implementation of Food Fortification with support from development partners like KHPT and GAIN. Shri. Kumar Garu launched the Fortification poster with “+F” logo and also felicitated 10 industries who have initiated fortification in their edible oil and milk brands.
