KHPT conducted a state-level dissemination meeting in Bengaluru on May 8 to mark the conclusion of the Joint Effort for Elimination of Tuberculosis (JEET) 2.0 project, and its transition to the state National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP)

The KHPT team presented the progress of the project and best practices which enabled more persons to be put on TB Preventive Treatment (TPT).  Over the course of the three-year project, the team enrolled and screened 88,528 in six districts and initiated 52,549 on treatment. 91% of the household contacts (47819 persons) completed treatment successfully. Over 550 private healthcare providers were involved to promote TPT in their facilities.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shivayogappa, Joint Director/State TB Officer, Karnataka; Dr Anil S, Deputy Director-TB;  Dr Nirmala, Sr. Microbiologist; Dr. Kiran K, WHO Consultant from State TB Cell; Dr. Suresh, District TB Officer, BBMP/Bengaluru City; Dr Ramesh, DTO, Bengaluru Urban, and Dr Nagesh, DTO, Bengaluru Rural, along with district NTEP representatives and other state TB partners. State TB Cell representatives suggested the District NTEP Team continue using the project strategies in all districts.

NTEP staff will continue TPT Services for all the eligible contacts of the pulmonary cases from June 2024.
