KHPT, in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the Global Coalition Against TB, and the United States Agency for International Development, organized the ‘National Consultation on TB Elimination: Building Synergies for a TB Mukt Bharat’ on August 3. The consultation brought together key stakeholders including Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assemblies, Panchayati Raj leaders, technical experts, and civil society representatives to discuss topics centred around TB elimination.
The Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, gave the inaugural address, in which he highlighted the necessity of all stakeholders working together to achieve India’s vision of TB elimination by 2025 and discussed the upcoming launch of a new national portal for TB-related information.
Topics discussed during the conference included the role of elected representatives at all levels in eliminating TB, last mile delivery, and the importance of addressing latent TB. Participants also discussed how best to foster stakeholder collaboration, build community engagement, eliminate stigma, and ensure the inclusion of vulnerable populations in the TB Mukt Bharat initiative.
The consultation was covered by over 140 English and Hindi publications.
