To mark International Women’s Day (March 8) and in the lead-up to World Tuberculosis Day (March 24), KHPT organizeds a roundtable discussion titled “Inspire. Innovate. Impact: A discussion around women driving health equity,” in collaboration with the US Consulate, Hyderabad, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The discussion, organized in Hyderabad on March 7, explored the importance of gender equality and social inclusion in health initiatives. Community leaders, particularly women, who are making a difference in the fight against TB were recognized and felicitated at the event.

Ms. Michelle Lang-Alli, USAID Health Office Director, set the tone for the day with her opening remarks, saying “We acknowledge KHPT for bringing the challenges faced by women and girls with TB to light. Transforming TB survivors into TB Champions is an impactful way to empower these women and improve the lives of those around them.” Ms. Jennifer Larson, U.S. Consul General, Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address at the event, underscoring the need for gender equality and women empowerment to build resilient and healthy societies.
