KHPT organized a colloquium for organization staff on ‘Observation methods in Qualitative Research’ on March 28 to address some fundamental questions on what qualitative data is and how to use information from the field. The session was facilitated by Dr Ambuja Kowlgi, Qualitative Research Lead, KHPT.
Dr Kowlgi briefed the participants on the evolution of observation methods and emphasized that they are intrinsic to any discipline in order to understand socio-cultural phenomena and various problems within social contexts, as well as to develop suitable solutions to such problems. This method also helps in developing a sense of empathy, she said. The colloquium, which was attended by over 50 staff both remotely and at the KHPT head office, was an interactive session using pictures and questions to prompt discussions and different points of view.
