KHPT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), on June 5, to build the capacity of the Gram Panchayat Task Force (GPTF) to support responsive primary care at the community level, and to develop a sustainable model for a convergence and community participation project in Chamarajanagar (Kollegal) and Raichur (Devadurga) districts of Karnataka. To take the project forward, an initial joint meeting was held on June 9 between the RDPR, led by Ms Uma Mahadevan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Panchayat Raj), and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), Government of Karnataka (GoK), Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and KHPT to develop a common vision, align objectives and discuss focus areas and next steps in the implementation of the project. A follow-up meeting between JHU and KHPT was held on June 26 to determine the next steps and roadmap for Arogya Sangama.
